Service Connect is a new marketplace app built for Ireland: a place to find and book trusted local tradespeople and professionals, or to list your own services and pick up new work. Whether you need a plumber for a leaking tap, someone to walk the dog while you're away, or a photographer for a christening, Service Connect keeps the whole job, from first message to final payment, in one thread.
Who Service Connect is for
If you're a client, Service Connect is for the jobs Irish households post all the time: plumbers, electricians, cleaners, gardeners, handymen, movers, car maintenance, personal care, childminders, pet sitters, tutors, photographers and handmade or personalised work. Search verified providers near you, or post what you need for free and let providers send you a price.
If you're a provider, Service Connect is a way to find your next customer without a joining fee or a monthly fee. Set up a profile, pick the counties and areas you cover, and quote on jobs as they come in.
How it works, from first message to job done
Every booking on Service Connect follows the same five steps:
- Browse your county, or post a job. Search verified providers near you, or describe what you need and let them send you a price. Posting a job is free: choose “get quotes” or give a budget, and pick a timing of Flexible, this week, or a specific date.
- Check qualifications and real reviews. Only someone who completed a booking can leave a review, so every recommendation was earned on a job, not from mates.
- Pick a day and a time. Choose a slot that suits and send the request. Nothing is charged yet. Booking times in the app are always Irish time.
- Settle the price in chat. Providers send custom offers with their own price and conditions. You can accept, counter or decline, and you see the full total, offer plus buyer protection fee, before you accept anything.
- Get a ping when they accept. Your card is charged only now, and Stripe holds the money until the job is complete.
What makes Service Connect different
A few things set Service Connect apart from just texting a number you found online.
Your card is charged only when a provider accepts
Nothing is taken when you send a request. Stripe only charges your card once a provider says yes to the job, and if you cancel before work starts, every cent, buyer protection fee included, is refunded in full.
Payment is held until the job is done
Once a provider accepts, Stripe holds the payment rather than paying it out straight away. After the provider marks the job done, you confirm it and the payment is released; if you do nothing, it confirms itself seven days later, unless a dispute is open. Opening a dispute keeps the payment held while Service Connect looks into it, whether the issue is that the provider didn't show, the job isn't finished, something was damaged, the price changed, or something else entirely.
Buyer protection has one small, fixed-plus-percentage fee, shown in full before you confirm: €0.90 plus 5% of the first €500 and 3% of anything above that. There is nothing else to pay.
Recommendations come from real bookings
Reviews on Service Connect are a simple thumbs up or down to the question “would you recommend this provider?”, shown as a count such as “12 of 13 recommend”. No score is shown until a provider has at least three reviews, and only someone who actually completed a booking can leave one.
Four languages, switchable any time
The app is available in English, Română, Українська and Русский. You can switch language any time in Settings and it changes the whole app straight away.
For providers
It's free to join Service Connect, list your services and send quotes: no sign-up fee, no subscription, and no commission taken from your quote. The price you quote is the price you're paid, and clients see any discount you offer reflected straight away. New providers get a short “get ready” checklist to work through: set up payouts, list a first service, add a profile photo, upload a qualification, and set your working hours.
Clients pay by card in the app, so there are no invoices to chase. The payment is held until the job is complete and then released to your Stripe account. You can also share your own public profile link with existing customers, and if you want more visibility, you can promote a listing to the top of search results for a day, a week or a month, from €1.99 as a one-off payment through your Apple ID that never renews on its own.
Where Service Connect is available now
Service Connect covers all 26 counties, Donegal to Kerry, across thirteen categories plus anything else you post. The app is on iPhone now via TestFlight: email support@serviceconnect.ie and the team will send an invite. A public App Store release and an Android app are both on the way.
