Service Connect vs Airtasker at a glance

Airtasker Ireland fees vs Service Connect fees
On Airtasker, both sides pay. According to Airtasker's help centre article on the Connection fee in Ireland, the customer pays a Connection Fee when assigning a Tasker, set in price bands from €4.95 for tasks under €30 up to €39.95 for tasks of €180 or more, VAT included according to its fee table. The Tasker pays a service fee of 12.5% to 20% of the task price, with tax added. Airtasker's Tasker tiers page for Ireland sets the rate by what the Tasker earned in the last 30 days: 20% under €400, 18.5% from €400, 14.9% from €1,500 and 12.5% from €3,500, all excluding VAT.
On Service Connect, only the person booking pays a fee. The buyer protection fee is €0.90 plus 5% of the first €500 and 3% of anything above, with a minimum of €1, and the exact figure is on screen before you confirm. Providers pay no joining fee and no monthly fee, and nothing is taken out of their quote: the price they quote is the price they're paid.
Worked example: a €100 job on each app
Assumptions: the provider's price is €100 on both apps; Airtasker's published Ireland fee bands and tier rates as of September 2026; no Airtasker vouchers, credits or promotions.

On a €100 job, then, Service Connect costs less for the customer and for the provider. It isn't cheaper for the customer at every price, though. Airtasker's Connection Fee stops at €39.95, while Service Connect's fee keeps growing at 3% above €500:

From about €970 upwards, the customer's fee is lower on Airtasker. Total fees on the job are still lower on Service Connect at every price in this table, because the provider keeps the whole quote.
How payments are held
This is where the two apps are most alike. On Airtasker, payment is taken when you assign a Tasker and, according to its help centre, held in an escrow account with Stripe while the task is in progress. The Tasker requests payment when they're done, you release it, and it reaches them in 3 to 5 business days. If you're not happy, the payment stays in escrow during a dispute.
On Service Connect, your card is charged only once the provider accepts, and Stripe holds the money until the work is done. You confirm to release it, or it releases automatically after seven days unless a dispute is open. Cancel before work starts and everything you paid comes back, fee included. Privacy and payment data: what each policy says
Here's what the two privacy policies actually support:
- Card details. Both apps use Stripe for card payments. Service Connect never sees your card number; card details are handled by Stripe. Airtasker's privacy policy lists credit card and account details among the information it collects when you register, and says they're processed by a third-party provider that handles payments for it. Neither policy shows one app handling card data more safely than the other, so we don't claim that.
- Provider checks. On Service Connect, Stripe verifies every provider's government-issued ID, address and bank details, and Service Connect receives confirmation of whether the check succeeded, not the documents. Airtasker says Stripe may ask Taskers for ID before paying them, and its privacy policy says it works with third-party providers to run police history or background checks on Taskers. Service Connect doesn't run background checks.
- Location. This is a documented difference. Airtasker's policy says that, if you allow it, it may collect your device's precise location, including when the app is in the background or closed. On Service Connect you normally pick your county from a list; the optional "Use my current location" button turns your coordinates into a county name on your phone, and the coordinates are never sent to Service Connect or stored.
- Who holds your data. Airtasker's policy names Airtasker UK Limited as data controller for users in the EEA. Service Connect is based in Dublin, and its Privacy Policy is written for the GDPR and Irish data protection law.
Where Airtasker is the stronger choice
Airtasker is an established marketplace that operates in six countries and lists Irish locations including Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway. Service Connect is new and not yet on the App Store, so today Airtasker will usually have more people to choose from and more reviews to read. It also covers errands beyond home services.
Where Service Connect fits better
Service Connect is built only for Ireland, with 13 categories such as plumbers, cleaners and electricians, browsable by county. Providers send custom offers in chat, reviews come only from completed bookings, and the app is in English, Română, Українська and Русский. Service Connect is coming soon to the App Store on iPhone.
