What you pay on Airtasker in Ireland
It helps to start with the numbers you're comparing against. Airtasker's help centre says customers in Ireland pay a Connection Fee of €4.95 to €39.95, depending on the task price, when they assign a Tasker. Taskers pay a service fee of 12.5% to 20% of the task price plus VAT; on Airtasker's Irish tier page, Taskers who earned under €400 in the last 30 days, which includes anyone just starting, pay the 20% rate. The Airtasker alternatives in Ireland worth knowing
Service Connect: the closest like-for-like
Service Connect works the same basic way: post a job for free or browse providers in your county, agree the price in chat, and pay by card in the app. Your card is charged only when the provider accepts, Stripe holds the money until the job is done, and cancelling before work starts gets you everything back, fee included. The difference is who pays. Providers pay no joining fee, no monthly fee and nothing out of their quote; the customer pays a buyer protection fee of €0.90 plus 5% of the first €500 and 3% of anything above, which is €5.90 on a €100 job. The app is in English, Română, Українська and Русский. The honest catch: it's new, and it's not on the App Store yet.
Bark: quotes from professionals who pay per lead
On Bark, placing a request is free for customers, and professionals pay to respond. Bark's Irish help centre gives a standard rate of €2.41 per credit, with the number of credits per lead depending on the service and the size of the job, and its pricing page says it charges no commission. Paying for the work itself is between you and the professional, and Bark's due diligence advice is to get payment terms in writing and avoid cash. Tradesmen.ie: an Irish quote site for trades
Tradesmen.ie is free for customers to post a job, and up to four tradesmen who buy the lead get your details and a chance to quote. According to its FAQ for tradesmen, trades pay a registration fee plus credits, and new registrations are asked for photo ID, a utility bill, proof of insurance and customer references unless they hold a recognised qualification or licence. Its fees policy adds a €3.50 or 3.5% processing fee on payments trades make. You pay the tradesman directly; the site has an escrow information page pointing to third-party escrow services for bigger jobs.
Checkatrade: a big UK name

A neighbour's recommendation costs nothing and is often the most trusted option there is. What you don't get is a record of the agreed price or any hold on your money, so get the quote in writing and ask for a receipt.

Airtasker is established, available in six countries and lists Irish locations including Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway. There's no joining fee or subscription, and you're paid the price you quote, released to your Stripe account once the job is complete.
